First step is to buy activate charcoal, any brand is fine. This is what I found on amazon.
Click the ad to the right to find it on amazon >>>>>>>>>>>>>
Swoosh it around in your mouth to also help with bad breath.

It leaves your teeth feeling extra clean white. Activated charcoal removes staining caused from coffee, teas and cigarettes. This will work better, cost less, and is all natural in comparison to store bought whitening strips. It wont have any extra chemicals that are found in your store bought strips.
Here are some before and after pictures of me and my friends ......
So far everyone that has used it has seen a difference after the 5 minute scrub. But I recommend making this a weekly habit to get your teeth whiter and to maintain the whiteness once achieved. I hope y'all will try it out..

I've grown up using baking soda the same way. Does this work better than baking soda does? I know overuse is bad as with everything but I'm just curious. :)
ReplyDeleteI would say better because the results are instant. Baking soda is a gradual change and needs to be used much more often than AC. :}
DeleteJust an FYI! DO NOT SWALLOW the activated charcoal. It will give you the worst diarrhea of your life! It is used in overdose patients to neutralize ingested medications and "evacuate" the pill quickly!
DeleteYou actually can swallow it. It is also used for allergies and food poisinings - works as an absorbent. And I never noticed it causing an awful diarrhea - and I took a lot of it as a kid - it's pretty common where I am from.
DeleteI was given activated charcoal in the emergency room and it gave me the worst diahrrea of my life. Maybe it depends on the amount ingested.
Deletecharcoal is used to stop diarrhea... just fyi i worked for a natrual path for a few years. It is not harmful if ingested.
DeleteIn the ambulance (ems world) (we don't use it anymore) this is used to, yes, flush drugs out of your system. You can swallow it, and yes it will give you diarrhea.
DeleteI take charcoal pills for my upset stomach and diarrhea…I feel better within 30 minutes. I only take one or two capsules…I guess in overdose, they give much much more and flush the chemicals out of your stomach it might do the opposite and cause diarrhea. Its actually the antedate for many medications.
DeleteIm a mother of 5 children that has had alot of stomach flu through the years. It actually stops the cramping and sometimes the throwing up if taken at the first sign of a stomach ache. It works great with children that has Roto Virus by slowing the diarrhea. The ones that has taken it in the emergency room probably had diarrhea from what ever they was trying to absorb. We have also used it on spider bites for pulling out toxins. Takes the red itchy feeling away.
DeleteActually, it's not the charcoal that causes the diarrhea. The charcoal we use in ER for overdoses contains sorbitol. The charcoal binds the drugs and the sobitol gets it all out of the intestinal tract quickly. I'll have to look at my next overdose patient to see if their teeth are white. I think I'll try the charcoal without the sorbitol thank you!
DeleteThat is awesome. I will be looking in to where to find it!
ReplyDeleteany vitamin store like GNC or Amazon. :}
DeleteHello Alana, i bought the activated charcoal and applied like you posted but I didn't see a change.
DeleteI'm wondering if I did something wrong.
Or will it not work for me at all.
Thanks for the info though :)
Totally want to try this, but I have my teeth bonded, and would be mortified if it stained the enamel my dentist used to bond them. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!
ReplyDeleteMy teeth have bonding too! No staining! You will be ok! :)
DeleteAs someone who works in a dental office- just fyi- nothing will whiten bonding, composite material, or crowns. If your teeth end up whiter than the shade the dentist put on your teeth, it could be noticeable.
DeleteI have a very important question. My teeth are very very sensitive and white strips HURT my teeth. Does this make your teeth hurt like white strips??
ReplyDeleteWhite strips hurt mine as well :-/ but this is not harsh or chemical filled like whitening strips. This will not hurt at all! ;)
DeleteI have the same issue as well, I am curious to see if this would work on me without pain or sensitivity.
Deleteif you have sensitive teeth, you have bigger problems than just their shade of white. Try oil pulling. For an overall healthier mouth and teeth, itll get rid of any sensitivity or cavities all that good stuff.. google it.
DeleteAC is also known for contributing in the treatment of cavities and overall oral health while removing toxins.
DeleteI've heard great things of oil pulling, but if I can find something that gives me the same results in 5 minutes time versus the 20 minute mouth swooshing oil regimen, I'll go for that instead.
Curious about how it tastes?
ReplyDeleteIt actually has no taste! :)
DeleteGonna give it a try bc those whitening products are expensive, take a while for results and they sensitize my teeth. Thanx!
ReplyDeletedo you just rinse out with water or do you brush your teeth after ?
ReplyDeleteUsually just rinse. Sometimes you need to use your tooth brush to get it all off!
DeleteI am so excited to try this for my upcoming wedding!!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad. Congrats on your wedding :}
DeleteThanks for sharing! I'm definitely trying this.
ReplyDeleteI decided to give this a try. I can't believe the difference in my teeth! Thanks so much for your post.
ReplyDeleteYou are so welcome :]
DeleteWhat if you have a porcelain crown??? Just wondering. I would really love to try this
ReplyDeleteI don't know about that. It just removes stains from teeth so I'm not sure what it would do. I have bonding on my teeth and it hasn't effected them.
DeleteSo does it harm your enamel or anything?
ReplyDeleteNo, It does not
DeleteDo you make a paste or just smear it rite on?
ReplyDeletesmear it right on ;}
DeleteHow long do you have to leave it on ?
ReplyDelete5 minutes or so. One of the results is my friend who said she only did minutes.
Delete* only did 3 minutes. Sorry forgot the 3 :)
DeleteSomeone needs to try this and then write in about the results! It seems too good to be true, and often, things that appear too good to be true aren't true at all.
ReplyDeleteWhat would I gain by lying? I am only sharing a helpful tip that was shared with me. Try for yourself.....or don't. I would love to hear about your results if you do try :]
DeleteI'm from India, and people around here have been using this method for many many years. I can assure you, that it IS effective like Alana has mentioned.
DeleteOMG people.... Try it or don't but give me a break...blogs are people's thoughts and opinions...
Deleteand before you complain about how you think its fake, go through all the comments. There are multiple people on here who said it worked for them.
DeleteFour of us are trying this week. We will post results! I will make sure we take before and afters in the same room at the same spot to see... heres to trying!
ReplyDeleteMy teeth now feel so soft and clean after I did it twice... I think it helped, too, though I didn't really have bad enough teeth to tell much of a difference. ;) Also I have a little black left over but it should go away over night or after a few more brushings! Activated Charcoal can be used for so many things! We have it around for bee stings. It draws the poison right out and prevents a bad allergic reaction.
ReplyDeleteYes, it makes your teeth feel so good! :) I'm glad you liked it! And the black will come off! No worries! It is good for multiple things, like if your child or pet gets into something they shouldn't :) it's used for over doses in the hospital
DeleteCan I ask how you use it for bee stings? I work in gardens and get stung every year at least once. I really swee=ll up, so if this can help somehow, I want to try it! Thanks
DeleteCathy Haynes, when we get stung we make a poultice by mixing about a teaspoon or so of the activated charcoal with water to make a paste
DeleteHere are directions that I found for preparing and applying a plaster:
• Mix charcoal powder and a little water and make a wet charcoal paste.
• Spread the paste on a piece of cloth or paper towel.
• Place the charcoal plaster on the affected body part—making sure it completely covers the area.
• Wrap the charcoal plaster with plastic—to keep it from drying out.
• Bandage or tape the plaster securely in place.
It does very well with keeping the swelling down. Hope this helps!
Toothpaste works great for bee stings too!
DeleteIf you're skeptical, try it. What harm can come of it? I have sensitive teeth and gums so when I go to the dentist, it's painville USA. I will definitely be trying this later this week; I can't wait to see if it works! Can you purchase this at Target?
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if it is at target, I have never looked. But it is at any GNC or vitamin shoppe. Or amazon is cheap :}
Deleteif you swallow the charcoal, does it harm you?
ReplyDeleteIt cleanses your insides and gets rid of poisons and toxins in your body. So drink away! ;)
DeleteWon't harm you at all!! I take it when I have an upset belly and it helps actually :)
DeleteI have braces, will it still work? :)
ReplyDeleteIt will remove stains that it can reach. So if your teeth are stained underneath it may be noticeable when you have them removed. Ask your orthodontist :)
DeleteI'm an ortho assistant, and I wouldn't recommend doing any sort of whitening while braces are on. Like she said, the spots the brackets are covering will be darker than the tooth around it
DeleteDefinately trying this :)
ReplyDeleteDo you just crush it and add water??
ReplyDeleteJust add the powder directly to your teeth. If it's a capsule break it and use half. I put it in a little bowl and use my finger or tooth brush to rub it on.
DeleteSwallowing activated charcoal is 100% safe, as a paramedic, we use it in overdose patients or people who have ingested toxins. It only turns your poo dark :)
ReplyDeleteI noticed in some pics that people had it on their mouths and chin....will it stain your skin?
ReplyDeleteIt is definitely messy! Lol but it will wash off your face! :)
DeleteI enjoyed reading the ladies rebuttals here and arguments over the color of one teeth but like all cat fights every one leavez with at least one scratch .lol. Always remember what Confucius said ...Dont knock it till u try it ! Especially if its good for you
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI have not altered these photos in Any way. I actually have an app that makes teeth whiter without effecting the color and I could have easily have done it if I wanted to lie about it. These are the results. The lighting may be off because we didn't stand in the exact spot as we did to take our before picture. But I honestly could careless who tries it. What do I have to gain by lying??? Please tell me.
DeleteGeez! That's all I can say.
DeleteDidn't your Mother tell you that if you have nothing nice to say, then say nothing. Obviously you didn't try it.
LOL @ Roxanne. That's kind of what I've been thinking. Comments on blog posts often drive me crazy with crap like that. If you don't agree, buzz off and read another blog. I think enough people have said that this stuff won't hurt you, so there's no reason to get all upset. It does look really gross, though. LOL That being said, I might give it a shot.... :)
DeleteThis is the ONLY time I have ever left a comment on the web. I have to because even though I don't know Alana, I don't know how she is keeping her cool. What is with some of you people????? Why would she lie about this? She has nothing to gain!!!!!! Try it or don't. It won't benefit or hurt her either way.
ReplyDeleteI agree. Seriously people!
DeleteThank you, ladies! My point exactly. I have nothing to gain. Just trying to share a helpful tip! Heaven forbid the lighting is off a bit. Lol ;)
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteSo what, she shared an idea, take it or leave it. Criticism is not needed nor asked for here. I agree, Kim and Mary.
DeleteIf you think "criticism is a part of life" , I'm glad you're not in mine.
Delete"and being 100% truthful is better than what you've done here" < Is that not what you wrote? That is saying I am not being truthful AKA a lie. So yes you did say I was lying. I can handle your criticism and I expect that with a public blog. I'm just letting you know I DID NOT alter these photos. I am not a photographer and don't care to be so I do not care how they "look" to you. I could have easily have posted this blog with no before and after pictures and people would still go out and try it. I did the best I could to show a before and after. Sorry if it is not up to your standards. Move along :]
DeleteAlana, I thank you for the tip and I found it did whiten my teeth.
DeleteIf I were you I would just ignore the ignorant people and let it go.
Just breathe..... and know that some people you cannot help, no matter what!
I thank you for the tip!!
Thank you, Roxanne! And you are so welcome! I'm glad you were able to use the tip and whiten your teeth! :)
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteI'm also a photographer and you can tell they weren't altered. Clearly. Look at the second picture its actually darker than the first meaning the color levels and curves haven't changed just different lighting. ;) if you're skeptical don't try it. Period.
DeleteRebecca, I'm pretty sure she also wrote that some people may not have such dramatic results. It depends on how stained your teeth are.
Delete@Rebecca - maybe you didn't say "she's lying" but you implied it, and that's THE SAME THING. You implied she was purposely trying to dupe people. You were rude and tactless. You didn't even TRY to hide the sarcasm. People Do have a right to know, but that can be done in a much better way than you came off.
DeleteAnd also....I am SO trying this!! :)
DeleteThe white balance is set to auto on most phones and point-and-shoot cameras, so it can fluctuate a lot between photos as it is constantly readjusting when the camera is powered up or down, focused on a subject, or the indoor/outdoor settings are changed. It can be manually set to one level on some point-and-shoots, but most people do not bother doing that or know how. That explains the difference in some of these photos; in a warmly lit room, after a few shots or powering up and down, the camera will adjust the white balance to be more blue on its own.
ReplyDeleteThis charcoal sounds like a good thing to try out... I am hesitant to brush with baking soda because it works by being a very fine abrasive; I wonder if the charcoal is as well?
Thank you! They were all taken with iPhones and one with a blackberry. The color will definitely not turn out perfect!
ReplyDeleteThe charcoal removes surface stains but I wouldn't say it feels abrasive. But honestly I'm not sure in comparison to baking soda. Maybe someone who has also brushed with baking soda could answer this if they know if it feels the same as baking soda. :)
Thank u for the tip, I will have to try this
ReplyDeleteDo you brush it on for 5 minutes or just put it on and let it sit on your teeth?
ReplyDeleteI brush and swoosh around for the 5 minutes. If you have a good coverage on your teeth leave it to sit. But with all the spit in my mouth sometimes its hard to keep a good amount stuck to my teeth so I keep rubbing/brushing it around
DeleteSome people need to lay off this girl. Holy moly! Look at the position of the peoples teeth, it's very obvious that they are different pictures with out all the altering mumbo jumbo you people are talking about.
ReplyDeleteI myself can't wait to try it! Thank you for the great tip!
:] Thank you
DeleteI'm definitely going to try this out. Thanks for the tip.
ReplyDeleteof course :] I was stoked when I learned of this tip
DeleteHow dare you lie about the lighting ;0)
ReplyDeleteI'm totally kidding! I'll have to try this! And pay no attention to people accusing you of being dishonest. I personally appreciate the tip! Thanks!!
lol Thank you ;] Made me smile You are welcome :]
Deletejajajaja!!! this was funny! i tried the charcoal and it works!!! just ignore the negative people!!!
DeleteExcited to try! Thanks for the helpful and reasonably priced tip! I like that I also learned how helpful it is in other areas. I'll definitely keep a bottle on hand.
ReplyDeleteYes, worth getting a bottle in case of an over dose or chemical ingestion :]
DeleteSeriously folks, get a grip. Its a blog not a site trying to sell you something. And, as most people's phones or even cameras are, it was likely set to automatic. And those complaining about the white balance are mostly photographers, you are generally the only people that change that nonsense! The rest of us leave ours set to auto and let it do its technological magic on its own. So either spend the $6 and see if it works or don't, I'm sure her life won't be altered one way or another. Thanks for the tip, Alana :)
ReplyDeletelo Thank you :] And you are welcome, the tip is just that, a tip :] If you want whiter teeth, try it lol
DeleteI think it's a scam! She's just trying to turn all our poop dark!!! :D j/k
Deletethanks so much! I tried this and altho my teeth weren't just terrible before, they do have a "shine" to them now, and they feel so clean and smooth. I love running my tongue over them! thanks again, way to go girl on being so helpful I appreciate it sooo much!!!=) God Bless!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! :)
DeleteSo I tried this and I noticed a very slight difference. As a photographer/editor, I can tell you that the photographs above are colored at different tones. One is in warm lighting and the "white" teeth are in more cool lighting which makes them look whiter. That being said, I did this and DID notice a very slight difference. The first time not very much and the 2nd time it was more obvious. I will keep trying it just to see if they get more white as I go. My fillings in the front (as expected) are still the same color and so I will have to get those re-done when I get my teeth as white as I want them (using this method or any other method).
ReplyDeletebtw, I only did this for 2 mins each time and it STILL lightened them. I would post pics, but as others have said, its basically impossible to get exactly the same lighting taking pics on a phone so it doesn't matter cause they don't look the same in real life anyway ;).
ReplyDeleteRebecca- Whomp whomp to you :p Criticism is a part of life? Please. So is being kind and optimistic!
ReplyDeleteAlana- thanks for posting and excited to try!!!
Does this taste bad? I would like to try this soon (when I get my braces off!!!) But I do not want to try this! But definitely if it doesn't taste bad.
ReplyDeleteNo taste, to me anyway.
DeleteNo, it does not have any taste!
DeleteI just tried this, and did not see results, but it was the first time. I actually saw this on many websites so decided to give it a try. I'm gonna try it for a few days and see if anything changes. It is very messy, but as someone had mentioned before, it makes your teeth feel really clean and smooth. Thanks, hopefully I see results! :)
ReplyDeleteSome people don't have immediate results and I think it has a lot to do with how many stains you actually have. Keep trying, some people see results over time as well :]
DeleteIs activated charcoal and drawing charcoal the same..
ReplyDeleteI have no clue. lol I would just buy the food grade kind sold at vitamin stores
DeleteNo! Activated charocoal and drawing charcoal are *not* the same. Never use drawing charcoal in lieu of activated charcoal; it's not safe to do so. Y'all be blessed.
DeleteI did try this and it does work! I did notice a difference and it beats the crest strips that cost $35.00 or more! I live in Michigan and got them at Meijer and they cost $8.99, but should last quite a while.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip, I appreciate it!
Roxie
You are welcome :] I agree, for the price you cant beat it
DeleteLighting be damned- I'm going to try it! I'm allergic to peroxides so this sounds great! I do use baking soda once a week-ish but it's such a gradual change I haven't noticed one. I will be sure to do before & after pics! Thanks for sharing ;)
ReplyDeleteCant wait to see :] You are welcome, thanks for stopping by
DeleteI tried this and it works! Even better than expected. I have very sensitive teeth and am very allergic to all artificial sweeteners (even the "natural" ones) so I have a hard time finding anything to brush my teeth with let alone whiten. This is fantastic, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteGreat to hear :] You are so welcome
DeleteLighting or no lighting..... I don't care. I thank you so much for sharing this. I can't wait to order some on amazon and try this. It am a coffee drinker so this will do wonders for me.. .. I just know it!!! Thank you for sharing your story and your before/after pics!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome :]
DeleteI am going to try this right away! Rebecca Kline needs to take a chill pill and stop being so negative. Try it or don't and stop being a hater.
ReplyDelete:]
DeleteAny good photographer would know that with a phone, you could take a billion pictures in the same room in the same light in the same spot, and simply turning a few degrees changes the white balance obnoxiously.
ReplyDeleteSo if anyone has a freakish issue thinking she's being dishonest without reason, then you try it and post the pictures using the same white balance and such... And I guarantee you will experience people like YOU thinking that you retouched the photos anyways, especially since being a photographer makes you savvy at making those edits seamlessly.
It'd piss you off if someone accused you of being dishonest, especially if you had no reason to. It's called respecting your peers.
And unless you can prove otherwise, you don't treat someone like they are purposefully misleading or dishonest.
if this was dishonest, the comment section would be exploding with comments of failure.
So, seriously, shut up or you're getting (activated) charcoal for Christmas
hahahahahahaha, it's so true! i couldn't have said it better myself.
Deletelol Charcoal for xmas. Too funny. Thank you ;]
DeleteThank you for sharing. I can't wait to do this!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome
DeleteDoes the amount of milligrams matter? How many did you use?
ReplyDeleteI use half a capsule
DeleteI have a quick question, I know it's stupid but do you mean once weekly? And should we do this before of after we brush are teeth or does that not matter? This is amazing I'm excited to buy it and start!! :)
ReplyDeleteYes, once a week would be plenty. Just to keep your results up. Probably would depend how much coffee you drink, smoke ETC And I brush before to make sure it can get to my teeth with no scum on them. And then after I just use my brush to get some of the black out of my teeth. Hope you enjoy it ;]
DeleteSo excited to try this bought the charcoal on Amazon right after I read saw this 8$ for 100 capsules! So cheap Thank you So much for sharing :-D
ReplyDeleteYou're Welcome
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI am a photographer as well, and I didn't see anything drastic enough here as far as the skin colors being off to suggest purposeful color correction. Furthermore, I can't fathom what your purpose would be. You're not even advocating a specific brand or store. Who cares. Either pin it, girls, or move to the next tip. I pinned this. I love all natural ideas with plenty of info, and I appreciate the before and after photos for a general reference. Thanks for the tip! Will definitely try. Peace and smiles.
ReplyDeleteThank you. And you are so welcome. I love natural tips too :]
DeleteI have a bridge. Will it affect this at all?
ReplyDeleteask your dentist. But I would assume no
Deleteoh no. the photography isn't perfect. it must not work.. what a joke. people are ridiculous! if you don't want to try it, then don't. she just posted it as a tip to try something as a natural whitening. and if you're scared about the black staining, i would recommend doing it in the evening, or on a weekend night that you may not have plans for, that way if it doesn't all come off right away, no one has to wonder if you've been munching on oreos all night. ;) thank you for the post, girl! it's worth a shot to try!
ReplyDeletelol no problem :]
DeleteAny side effect like getting cavity easily after rubbing off by charcoal like sandpaper?
ReplyDeleteI dont understand the question?
DeleteI used the same charcoal capsules and didn't see as good results. I'll try timing it next time to make sure its on the whole 5 minutes. I usually use baking soda and peroxide and this stuff is not abrasive like baking soda. The charcoal doesn't taste bad like it either. Hopefully the next time I use it, I will see better results. Thanks for sharing, its really something neat. :)
ReplyDeleteI got the tablets instead of the capsules by accident. Should I just crush the tablets and do it that way? Or should I get the capsules. My coworkers think I'm crazy for trying this, but I'm so curious to see if it works!
ReplyDeleteyou could probably just crush the tablets :]
DeleteYou can actually buy charcoal toothpaste that is sold in Japan on Amazon. Here's the link if you care to check it out. http://www.amazon.com/Sumigaki-SUMIGAKI-JAPANESE-CHARCOAL-TOOTHPASTE/dp/B000LP5C6G
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome. Thanks for sharing. and sounds from the reviews it works just as good :]
DeleteHi Lana, firstly thank you for the tip and I am very keen to try it. I have looked at getting some Activated Charcoal and have a quick question. What is the difference between Activated Charcoal and Charcoal Activated 260mg (other than price) and which one should I get? Thanks x
ReplyDeleteI don't think there is a difference. You may just be seeing a price difference from comparing different companies.
Deletepeople are saying not to swallow it but, isn't this a bottle of capsules? meant to be swallowed? lol
ReplyDeleteit can be swallowed ;} But you use it like a toothpaste and spit don't swallow
DeleteOh my goodness! This is so cool, and yet so odd! Who knew, right!? It's so funny how some of the messiest things can make things better. I'm such a heavy coffee drinker that I worry about my teeth almost every time I pour myself another cup. I love coffee, but I know that someday I will really regret the coffee stains on my teeth. I thought that maybe, if I started the whitening process early, it might even prevent the staining. Here's to hoping that my teeth making it through my coffee addiction! I will have to try this as soon as I can get to the store to find some.
ReplyDeleteOline Dental Art
Never done this. GOing to give it a try. I have used baking soda in the past and other types of whiteners not good results
ReplyDeleteI tried it this afternoon and so did my husband. We only did it for about a minute or 2, and instead of swishing we brushed the whole time. I noticed enough of a difference and will do it again tomorrow and maybe for another couple days until I get the shade I want. It really does work, thanks so much for the tip!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to hear that :] You are welocme ;} thanks for stopping by.
DeleteI tried this twice now and I must say I haven't really noticed that much difference to be honest but it was worth a try :)
ReplyDeleteThis probably got asked already but don't feel like scrolling thru all the comments lol but I I just tried it an I see a lil difference so thank u soo much for the tip :D but 2 questions can I brush my teeth with toothpaste after I do this an is it safe to do everyday? Or do I gotta do it once a week?
ReplyDeleteThis is common in India. When I first met my hubby he had a yogurt container full of charcoal in his bathroom. Never saw him use it, but he said it was for teeth. We threw it out years later. I never tried it. Didn't realize it would whiten teeth.
ReplyDeleteThat is pretty funny. I have come to learn that is more common in other countries
DeleteWow I'm so going to try this! Do I need to scrub the whole 5 minutes or just a little bit and let it sit there?
ReplyDeletewhatever you prefer. If it is staying on my teeth good I will let it sit. If I have tons of saliva I will scrub it around .
DeleteDo you add water to get the charcoal brushable or does it become that way with saliva?
ReplyDeleteBecomes that way with saliva
DeleteI gotta say... THANK YOU!! I tried it this afternoon... My results were awesome!! Can't wait to do it again!
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome :]
DeleteWow,this really works!
ReplyDeleteGOD bless you for sharing!
thank you :]
DeletePeople are so funny. I'm excited to try this safe inexpensive tip. Isn't that what those of us on a budget are looking for? She sure got people talking. Good job! Safe and cost effective. Works for me. Adding to my shopping list. Thanks for the tip.
ReplyDeleteThank you :] and you are so welcome
DeleteSo I tried this out last night, and though my teeth are slightly whiter, my gums were severely stinging and sensitive for about an hour afterwards, it looked almost like my gums had a mild white burn in places. thank goodness I have soothing gel from the dentist but today they are fine.
ReplyDeleteI when be trying this again just not maybe for the 5 mins.
I haven't heard anyone else say they had that reaction. Maybe you scrubbed a little too hard? Maybe just let it sit on your teeth next time :]
DeleteI am happy that I found your post while searching for informative posts. It is really informative and quality of the content is extraordinary.
ReplyDeleteTeeth whitening
thank you :]
DeleteHow often do you do it? once a week? everyday?
ReplyDeleteI do it once a week at most
DeleteI tried it today it helped a little.... I will continue to use it... thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeletewelcome :]
DeleteMy daughter and I just tried it and YES it is messy, but YES it does work... and I have bonding. Thanks for the tip!
ReplyDeleteYou are so welcome, glad it worked for you and your daughter :]
DeleteThis works great. Thanks so much for the tip. I could only find the capsules at WalMart, I just break one open in a small bowl wet my toothbrush and sort of make a paste on my brush. My teeth have never looked better and as a heavy coffee and tea drinker I needed something. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteYou are so welcome :] Good to know walmart sells it, I didn't know that :]
DeleteIs this something safe to brush your teeth with every day
ReplyDeleteyes.
DeleteI am by all means going to try this! Thank you so much. This is the first time I've been on this site. Do you have any other tips? Thanks KB
ReplyDeletecongratulations guys, quality information you have given!!! Family Dentist
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know if this is safe during pregnancy?
ReplyDeleteI just tried this last night (I saw a bottle on clearance at Smiths Grocery).... It was harmless and cheap, and my teeth are not sensitive after, so that is a plus. I think it helped a little. Not as much as your before and after pics look, but still I noticed a little bit. I think i'll try a few more times to see if it gets whiter each time.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest I was kind of hoping for magic brilliant white teeth, and even though this helped, my hopes are a little unrealistic. Hopefully the more I use it the whiter they get. I have before and after pictures too. I might blog to tell my friends about it. If I do, Ill tag your blog.
Thanks for posting!
FYI the whitening strips for use at home do NOT contain activated charcoal - they whiten by using hydrogen peroxide (or, Carbamide Peroxide).
ReplyDeleteYou can see the Crest ingredients here:
http://news.crest.com/faq-item/safety/what-are-ingredients-crest-3d-white-whitestrips
I am going to try this while oil pulling. I think it will work great! I will have to get some more activated charcoal since we are out (we used to keep it around in case the dogs got into something, saved one of our dogs from ingesting antifreeze). Thanks for posting! Just ignore the haters.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to try it.and making my boyfriend too,his once pearly whites r a hazy yellow (smoking) and we both have sensitive teeth.
ReplyDeleteSo, you just use in WITH toothpaste?
ReplyDeleteHello, I tried this today but I didn't see much of a change I'm wondering if I did something wrong. Half a capsul didn't really cover everything so I used a little bit more of the other half.
ReplyDeleteAlso did your mouth start developing a lot of saliva?
Thanks for the post :)
cool. in our country we just chew the natural charcoal and spit the rest out.
ReplyDeleteA lot of Indian toothpastes are charcoal based. I used to wonder what the point of it was when I saw my parents bought some from a trip or something. Now I know!
ReplyDeleteI must tell you that, in África where i lived for 12 years during my infancy, the locals cleaned their theets with charcoal with the fingers.
ReplyDeleteWorks GREAT! 5 minutes! Alana, don't even worry about the sceptics and haters any more! You said it's your tip not a money maker, that's plenty. Thanks, I love how it worked and thanks for taking the time to add this information to Pinterest!
ReplyDeleteI usually don't jump on internet fads, but the charcoal scrub isn't new. In fact, scrubbing your teeth with charcoal was done back in the 1800s. True, its more of an Asian trend nowadays, but I thought, if this worked a couple hundred years ago, it could probably work now. So I caved, and I bought a $10 bottle of AC (the only one they had, actually) at my local Vitamin Shoppe.
ReplyDelete3 popped capsules, 15+ minutes of scrubbing, and super sore gums later, I had zero results. My boyfriend was excited about it, until he saw that it was the same yellowing around the gums, on my teeth, as before I got "Zombie Mouth."
He was looking at your pictures, and he said that the before and after pictures have different lighting. Maybe that's why it looked like "instant" results. The lighting was different.
I can admit that my teeth got the scrubbing of a lifetime, but for set in coffee/smoking/haven't seen a dentist in a decade because of no insurance, stains, you may not get any results at all.
Also, for others who haven't tried it yet, don't scrub as hard as I did, or nearly as long as I did. I don't think the AC hurt my gums, but my disappointment and determination to get "instant" results as advertised, hurt my gums.
I would advertise that "Results May Vary," this doesn't have instant white choppers for everyone. I'm willing to make it a weekly habit, to see how long it will take for any results, but so far, its been used twice, and I haven't seen a whiter difference from before "Zombie Mouth" to after.
Sorry to be an Eeyore, but there's a reason I declare red flags on phrases like "instant results!" =/
My husband is from Kenya and he got excited when he saw this idea. They use charcoal to clean their teeth a lot over there and he said he totally forgot about it! Going to pick up some capsules tomorrow :)
